Pro-Thaksin thousands still besiege Parliament

BANGKOK, TUESDAY - Thailand's political crisis was back. Thousands of demonstrators supporting former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, on Tuesday (30/12), still besiege the Parliament building. The demonstrators vow to stand still demand the election be held. This action forced the Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva delay speech the second time, on Monday. This latest action occurred less than a month after former PM Somchai Wongsawat prime minister forced to follow the two main airport in Bangkok. The demonstrators at that time is anti-Thaksin groups. Somchai then replaced after the court decided Abhisit do Somchai cheating during the election.

Although Thaksin supporters held demonstrations peacefully, on Tuesday, analysts assess the latest actions will make tourism industry and the economy continues to Thailand terpuruk. "We will continue to negotiate and mediation," said Abhisit to PM mass. "I ask all people, including all members of Parliament and officials to give up a holiday (New Year) for the state of progress for the country," he added. Abhisit wins vote in parliament two weeks ago to become PM. He was the third Thai PM in the last four months after the court dissolve the party in power, strength of the People's Party (PPP), which is loyal to Thaksin on 2 December.

Decision was made because of protests encouraged by People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), an anti-Thaksin group, the Bangkok airport memblokade. Thaksin is not favored elite military, the palace, and the bureaucracy are considered corrupt and authoritarian.
